Thanks for the quick reply.
It is my understanding that by default Lightroom creates a folder in the “Pictures” folder called “Lightroom”. Within the “Lightroom “ are all the .lrcat files. I also still have Lightroom 3 installed. So “Lightroom 3 Catalog.lrcat” is there but “Lightroom 4 Catalog.lrcat” is not. The “Backup” folder is there in the “Lightroom” folder as well. That “Backup” folder does indeed contain all my LR4 backups. My latest backup is from only a week ago. But, as I said, when I go to “Catalog Settings” and select “Show” it sends me to an old backup (June 2012). So I’m assuming I’m working with an old catalog that doesn’t have my latest work. I’m not sure if that’s true because everything seems to be working OK, and I believe my latest “Develop” settings are there each time I open Lightroom.
If I select my latest backup file from the “Backup” folder will Lightroom open with the most recent settings? If so, can’t I just rename that file to what Lightroom was supposed to use, i.e., “Lightroom 4 Catalog.lrcat”
I did do a search of my entire “C” drive and the “Lightroom 4 Catalog.lrcat” file wasn’t found. When I search for just “.lrcat”, it finds all the Lightroom 4 Backups plus the Lightroom 3 Catalog.lrcat and the Lightroom 3 backups. But no Lightroom 4 Catalog.
My hope is that by recreating the “Lightroom 4 Catalog.lrcat” file in the folder in which Lightroom expects to find it I will get back to “normal”. Which to me means that when I open Lightroom it will go to the new file I just created and keep that up to date as I work in addition to creating the scheduled (once a week) backup files.
I hope all this makes sense.
Thanks again,
Joe
