We need a little more information to know exactly what it is that you want to do. However, Lightroom 4.x will convert catalogs from previous versions, and will leave those settings and adjustments intact. You will be able to continue using the old settings as long as you leave the image in the old process version. New images will be imported using the 2012 process version, and older settings probably will not produce the desired result. The new process version will, in most cases, produce much better results.
