How do I export a collection while preserving the sub-collection folder structure I created?

After creating a collection and sub-collection folders, I sorted through thousands of pictures and added my favorites to the folders. Then I edited the pictures. Now I can't figure out what to do with them other than exporting all the pictures with their original folder name (no sign of the sub-collection folder name or organization, and no edits included). I'm sure I'm missing something, but I've searched around and can't seem to find an answer!

I'm new to Lightroom and was loving it. But if I can't DO anything with the folder structure I created and the edited pictures in those folders, I'm going to scream! I will have officially wasted all my spare time for the past three weeks.

Could someone please advise me on what I do after I create a collection (and sub-collection) and then edit the pictures? Where can I find this folder structure and the edited pictures? How do I use them (e.g., to print, put in a Blurb book, etc.)? I just want them on my hard drive. I don't want to upload them to the internet or email them or burn a disc.

Thank you!
