You can select "upper case" or "lower case" or "leave as is" for the file extension in the Import Dialog / File Renaming Panel / Extensions (on the right side).
This panel is not visible/available when you select <Add> in the top center of the Dialog. But for importing from camera / memory card you should select <Copy> anyway.
