I spoke to my son, who's now an engineer at Dropbox, and he told me that they've acted on the troubleshooting ticket I opened and we're able to replicate the problem using LB. It seems that the way LB writes a file is a little different than usual, which was causing the issue. They're working on a fix and will incorporate it into the new build, which will be released as soon as they test it thoroughly. So stay tuned, help is on its way.
