The single most important LR tool is a hardware monitor calibrator, which you should be using right now. Without a hardware monitor calibrator it will be very difficult to process images so they print as you see onscreen in LR (WYSIWYG).
If you are already calibrating your display with a hardware calibrator for 100-120 CD/M2 Luminance, 6500K Color Temperature, and 2.2 Gamma, then you are at 90% or better color accuracy for most lighting situations. The ColorChecker PassPort can help you close that gap, especially when shooting in mixed lighting.
Once your wife has made about $1K in profit on her eBay sales, maybe she will buy you a ColorChecker Passport.
