Standard and 1:1 Previews have nothing to do with the Develop Module. They are only used by the Library Module.
Which is exactly what I said in my first post:
"This only affects the Library previews and makes no difference once 1:1 previews have been rendered for the images."
The reason this is important is because it's faster to use the Library module and NOT the Develop module for initial image review prior to working in the Develop module and for all other purposes afterwards. Don't forget to re-render 1:1 Library previews after making adjustments in the Develop module to prevent preview delay when moving from image to image in the Library module.
Using these workflow suggestions the preview rendering delay in the Develop module should not slow you down significantly. In fact using Develop 'Sync' or Copy & Paste of Develop settings can greatly speed the process. This is especially true for determining and setting Sharpening, NR, Defringe, etc. quickly across a set of images shot with the same lens, ISO and lighting conditions. That's one way to reduce your image processing time that doesn't cost a cent.
