I doubt the images are lost from the CF. Place it back in the camera and look-see. Just a hint/tip > I never, EVER, import files into LR dirtect from a card.I ALWAYS have the computer OS copy them...

thanks, Jim. Yes, the images are still on the card and they show in LR previews but you can't work on them or export them. I also downloaded them into Iphoto and iphoto couldn't read them.

Another possibility is that *no* images are selected, which is the other case where the whole filmstrip (e.g. collection contents) will be targeted for export.
